Sunnyside
Up! |
|
Not wanting to overstay our welcome (especially since we haven't had to pay for anything yet -- or rather, GW hasn't had to pay for anything yet -- I'm broke) we decide to cross Queens Blvd. and head to the Courtyard. Queens Boulevard is the most dangerous street in NYC, with an average of one pedestrian death per month. Tom and Bobby warn us to cross with the light. They're not really concerned about our safety -- they're worried about the recent jay-walking ticket frenzy that's gripped Sunnyside and east-lying communities. GW and I pay close attention to the traffic lights. |

The Courtyard is kicking with a young, mostly Irish, clientele and surprise -- Irish barmen! We let the barmen take pictures of each other with the digicam, and listen to pretty decent covers of Pearl Jam's "Alive" and the Violent Femmes' "Blister in the Sun." Feeling more like the latter than the former, the end of QB Pub Crawl (Part 2) finds me crawling back across the Boulevard -- with the light, of course. |
The band members look to be about 12 years old. GW and I wonder whether they were even born when "Blister in the Sun" was first released! |
